Anatomy of the Sky as Sun Starts to Set

The image was taken in the open seas of the Caribbean and is part of the collection called “Anatomy of the Caribbean Skies”.

In this instance the sun starts to descend in the heaven.  The kingdom of the earthly sky is shared by the sun with the clouds as each seeks to dominate.  For the sun this is a small battle since its kingdom stretches over the entire solar system.  For the clouds this is a major battle since they only rule over the earth.  They both play an essential role in preserving life on earth.  The sun is constant and dependable.  The clouds are transient and fickle. The setting sun descends through the blanket of the clouds, and gives the sky a mysterious, magical  feel.

The heavens are a rich resource for the artist.  The art is part of a series that explores the changing vista of the heavens.  It is also a rich resource for moods and inspiration; gray skies, blue skies, sunshine, the rain, sunrise and sunset with an orange optimism in the cloudless sky.

“Anatomy of the Sky as Sun Starts to Set”

The sky is a rich resource for the artist.  The art is part of a series that explores the changing vista of the heavens.  It is also a rich resource for moods and inspiration; gray skies, blue skies, sunshine, the rain, sunrise and sunset

Although the sun is almost too bright to look at, attention of the observer is on the beutifully illuminated clouds.

The artpiece teaches us of the beauty in the sky.
