Description

“Reality of Black and White in Winter”

is a portrayal of the colors and moods of the winter season in nature.  The black reflects the long dark nights and white – the snow.

Artistic portrayal of the season in the backyard showing the two basic colors.  Black has many attributes, and in this context, reflects loneliness, quietness, mysteriousness but also intimidation.  The moon and the lights in the old mansion provides a sense of eeriness and mystery.

The backyard in the day after a night storm shows a stark white garden

White also has many characteristics and is the confluence of all color, resulting in no color at all.   At its best it signifies purity.  On a cold winter morning after a snow fall there is a silence as if all in the world is asleep.  Light is much brighter after the snow storm and sensitivities are heightened by the silence.

Black and white are opposite in many ways but need each other.
