Junction of the Small Bowel with the Colon

The artistic rendering of a barium enema using X-rays, shows the junction where the distal small bowel ( ileum -orange) connects with the colon. The fatty ileocecal valve (yellow) surrounds this junction

The ileum marks the border between the cecum (purple)and the ascending colon (light blue). The hepatic flexure (green) and proximal transverse colon (pink) are also outlined in this piece.

Artistically the multicolor of the piece is aesthetically pleasing and the physical junction and functional bonding and collaboration of the small with large bowel is fascinating and incorporates the “units to unity” concept.
