“Prognosis in the abdomen” is derived from a CT scan through the middle of the abdomen and shows two hands holding a crystal ball.

The future of patients is often determined by a 15 second scan.  They are in one situation in life (as far as they know) before they enter the gantry and may be in a completely different situation when they come out. The CT is one of the tools that we have in modern medicine that provides a person with a thumbs up or a thumbs down.  It holds that power over us.
